EMIDS is a Life Long Learning Erasmus Multilateral Project funded by the EC
With this project - coordinated by the University of Brussels - the partner institutions have designed an integrated European doctoral programme leading to a double or joint PhD degree in Molecular Imaging.
The overall goal of EMIDS is to offer PhD students a framework of excellence up to the expert level in several of the molecular imaging domains and to stimulate the exchange of PhD candidates in Molecular Imaging between European universities.

The research field of Molecular Imaging is rapidly growing and thus requires the expertise of PhD level molecular imaging professionals. These professional should have an in depth theoretical understanding and an excellent hands-on knowledge.
With EMIDS we developed a complete third cycle of education for doctoral students. The network of universities brings together complementary expertise in the different domains of molecular imaging. This European level of cooperation ensures to cover the full spectrum of skills which cannot be provided by an individual organisation.
The key pedagogical strategies includes a minimum six month stay abroad at a molecular imaging lab for PhD work with an expert in a specific topic, regional workshops with in depth theoretical and hands-on training programmes. The language of all courses will be English.
EMIDS aims to train a new generation of molecular imaging professionals with improved employability in research and development teams in academia and industry. These professionals will have a deciding impact on the development of future drugs and diagnostic imaging agents with the ultimate goal of improving patient care by facilitating personalized medicine.
