Contributing departments and institutions are the Department of Neurology (Prof. Bogdahn), the Insitute for Neuroradioloy (Prof. Schuierer), the Department of Experimental Psychology (Prof. Greenlee), the Department of Radiology (Prof. Feuerbach), the Department of Nuclear Medicine (Prof. Eilles), the Department of Experimental Physics (Prof. Kalbitzer) and the Insitute of Analytical Chemistry (Prof. Wolfbeis). This network is covering most modern technologies and methods of MRI (1,5T and 3T Siemens Sonata and Allegra - human and rodent imaging ), MR spectroscopy (19T, Bruker), PET including FDG synthesis (Cyclotron). In the basic science field, the Department of Neurology and the Insitute of Pathology (Prof. Hofstätter) have installed each a laser scanning microscope (Leica), the Institute of Clinical Chemistry (Prof. Schmitz) has a 2-Photon microscope established. Moreover, the Department of Neurology has a invertive fluorescence microscope equipped for time lapse analysis. The Department of Neurology has generated a strong basic science program on adult neural stem cells and neurogenesis (PD. Dr. Aigner, Dr. Sebastien Couillard-Despres). [read more] |
